Mental help for destitute friend?

I have a former friend who is destitute. He was very successful but then just dropped out of life and is living on the street. I would have never imagined. He has mental issues I am aware of. No drug issues, just mental problems. What services are available? He is a resident of Nevada but is living the in streets of LA. Any help is appreciated. Merry Christmas.
