Ways to cry on cue OTHER than character recall?

The most conventional way would be to think of something sad to make you cry but seeing how that doesn't work I would suggest that either you just forget everything about you and become the character so when the character should cry you should feel the emotion and therefore cry on cue. That or either figure out a way to make yourself cry physically by either doing something to yourself in the wings before you go out to make you cry such as gently hold ur eyelids open causing you to tear up, etc... or figuring out a way to do it on stage without the audience viewing it.
