Retirement- what income would make you happy?

Regionally-speaking, you could live very well off of 40K. I live in high-cost area and I make more than that retired,yet it seems, I am barely making it. I haven't even touched my savings yet. So yes, if you live in the south or parts of the mid-west you can do rather well on that. Assuming you are careful with your money. I am still able to save out of my check.
